Yes!! 🔥🔥🔥
I don’t understand Democratic politicians whose theory of change is still “I’ll cooperate with Republicans!”

I’ve actually paid attention to the last twenty years of politics.

Republicans are welcome to help. They are not required for us to succeed.

Very well said. Read the entire 🧵
Thanks for sharing this document, @rweingarten.bsky.social.

I read it, and I believe it's inexcusably inadequate and will not prepare teachers or schools to confront the very real dangers of the "A.i." products pushed by your partners, including OpenAI.

A few thoughts for your consideration...

Remember when Zeppelins were the future of transcontinental air travel?
The world is actually FULL of technologies that were created and then went away because they sucked and no one wanted them. it happens all the fucking time. The idea that as soon as they're here we all just have to learn to live with it and find a use for it is just stupid tech industry propaganda.
Remember when they said this about NFTs... and the blockchain... and VR... and 3D...

How many times do we have to see tech no-one but tech bros want consigned to the ash heap of history before we realise that yes, actually, we *can* close Pandoras box.

Important thread, but this is the heart of it.
If we could just take a fucking breath and admit "our kids are people, we don't get to decide who they are," and stop using "BUT THE CHILDREN" as a reason to attack trans people, and autistic people, and whoever else we've decided not to like, that would be cool.

when a poor person uses food stamps for a steak or homeless person spends $5 on a beer, it’s seen as proof that all poor people are so bad with money that they shouldn’t be given any, ever, for any reason. $77 billion out the window, and zuck’s legacy as a safe government contract bet is secure.
Mark Zuckerberg’s gamble on the "Metaverse" has lost his company more than $77 billion.

I have 3 axioms that help me decide when to talk to people I disagree with:

1. To debate a subject is to concede that the subject is debatable.

2. To reason with a person is to concede that the person is reasonable.

3. To ask for evidence of a claim is to concede that the claim might be true.

Brutal but effective public health messaging from New York Public Health.

The CDC is compromised. They’re no longer a reliable source of information.

They push anti-vaxx & anti-science grift.

Get your vaccines. Wear a respirator. Clean the air

I’m not against data. I am against mistaking data for reality.

This is why we need people in Congress who have worked normal jobs. Instead of just reading economic reports about them.

you can remove the word "parenting" from this and it all still holds
Sam Altman saying he uses Chat GPT as a parenting tool is a dumb as fuck “news” story today, but honestly, you should never take any parenting advice from rich people. Full stop. They don’t look after their kids. They have staff. Precisely zero of their parenting dilemmas resemble normal humans’.

It says a lot that AI “artists” are so creatively bankrupt they think writing prompts is a difficult, arduous task.

You realize coming up with a prompt is what a real artist would call “having an idea,” right?

It took them weeks of sleepless nights to have some basic thoughts.
McDonald's has released an AI-generated Christmas ad

The studio behind it says they 'hardly slept' for several weeks while writing AI prompts and refining the shots — 'AI didn't make this film. We did'

I ask because I am already very clear on the part that clearly states that all persons born in the US are citizens of the US.

We don’t talk about just how many things Reagan broke nearly enough.
The bottom 90% lost a collective $79 trillion in wages over the past 50 years.

Why? Because the top 1% ate up an increasingly larger share of the national income — so that $79 trillion flowed to them instead of the working class.

The greatest trick of all is trickle-down economics.

Than the reality of someone being harmful and abusive right in front of you
