Also an important lesson for cis White folks (straight men especially): Your threat of withholding support or allyship means less than nothing to anyone historically marginalized. It's literally the baseline assumption we work from. You're not "showing us," you're just confirming our expectations.

When I worked for a museum we were constantly fundraising to cover bus fees so kids could come to our otherwise free education programs on field trips—and nobody ever seemed aware this was a barrier, you had to prove it to them before you could put an ask in front of them a lot of the time

The thing people don't get about poverty is one disaster can wipe out all the money saved for food, rent, medical treatment, etc. One person’s dire medical emergency can wipe out money to treat an issue that’s becoming emergent, then that gets emergent…

It’s a vicious cycle of never having money.
Also keenly remembering last time this happened. 2 months ago, for about 3 hours: we were ok enough to seek dental treatment & maybe look at a car.

... then a family emergency wiped us out & we've been struggling to even eat since.

How much stronger would universities be in fighting the far right had they not acted like their race and gender scholars’ research and courses had no value. Welp…

Anything that helps a disabled person navigate life more easily & with fewer barriers is an accessibility aid.

Including dishwashers, shower chairs, safe housing, no strings attached money & doing away with asset limits & benefits cliffs.

Everyone deserves these things, period.

Staggering how many adults hate kids with post-infectious chronic illnesses/disabilities and punish/harm them, never provide safe accessibility in education

I was one of those kids in the 1990s, epidemics and a pandemic since yet many adults haven’t improved www.newschannel10.com/2025/07/23/s...

I even warned the manager I spoke to "expect more calls today, I'm not the only one who's mad."

If they want to be sent emails, you should call them. You can send an email too but they will ask you to do a thing that's less annoying for them. Do the thing that annoys them more.

I also just want to say all of this can be traced back to credit companies discriminating against sex workers, and it’s sex workers who’ve been sounding the alarm about it since the advent of online payment processing. They have always been on the bleeding edge of this stuff.

Listen to sex workers.

this is real life adult work being cut off and censorship of expression from queer folk all around the world, not some petty "but this allows problematic/fetishizing media that squeaks me" bs

I keep getting caught mid-stride with how explicitly hoods off it is that the current administration has taken "woke"—a Black community term for being aware of systemic oppression—and turned it into a rallying cry for doubling down on that oppression.

How it's outright sneering at Black knowledge.

Here’s some tips on how to recognize heat related illness, how to prevent & treat it, and what you can do to support your unhoused neighbors!

1. Criminalization and censorship of sex work, sexual media, and anything remotely associated with it was never about anyone’s welfare and always about exclusion.

2. Also the availability of erotic media (including porn) is Good, Actually.
You don’t have to like, approve of, or engage with porn and nsfw work to see how right wing extremists are using fear and stigma around smut to ban queer people from public life, define “good” sex as only between married people for procreation, and otherwise further force white supremacy on everyone

And almost everyone who hasn't experienced it has no idea what this is like, apparently doesn't seem interested in ever trying to know, to bridge the divide so they can live in community with us who do live this.

Trying to have as much of a life as you can as an ill person is nonstop heartbreak.
There’s a special kind of grief that chronically ill and disabled folks know of watching huge parts of life pass by while your body, try as it might, simply hurts too much or is too exhausted or dysregulated to do a single thing except try to stay alive from one moment to the next.
