Also crucially we get paid when libraries buy our books! There is nothing to be sorry about ever in borrowing a fave author’s books from a library! It is one of the few “everybody wins” situations in life!
Someone said to me, "I'm sorry but I got your book from a library." Nobody should ever apologise for that. You read my book! That's brilliant! I grew up hanging out in libraries and the idea of a world without them fills me with dread. Without libraries, authors, like readers, will only suffer.

Gandalf's "a wizard is never late, nor is he early" and Kesha's "Now, the party don't start 'til I walk in" are essentially the same sentiment

You have passed the halfway mark for January, congratulations! It's the longest and darkest of the dark months and you've got this. Sunset ticked forward to 5.17pm today.

There’s a journalist staying at my neighbor’s Airbnb who came out while I was shoveling the walk in a full flak jacket with the big PRESS patches.

I’m seeing one of my fav musicians tonight (Silversun Pickups singer/guitarist Brian Aubert solo/acoustic) and I’m almost as excited to have an excuse to visit my fav ramen spot before the show

Now, more than ever, check out a novel from your public library, get yourself some snacks, and READ for pure joy. You deserve it.

I lived in Silver Spring from 2014-2015 for my Americorps service and never saw any silver springs. Didn’t even realize until this thread that such a thing existed.

Nice town though!
I'mma tell you right now, you're going to be disappointed if you come to Silver Spring, Maryland to see the titular Silver Spring

One of the few great works of the internet age that had remained good is sadly no longer good.

This sucks.

MCU X-Men shouldn’t be movies, it should be a Chris Claremont-style soap opera.

Revolving door cast of characters, dramatic twists every episode, weirdly horny, etc
This place needs some Innocuous Discourse pronto. Quote this with a take that’s not political or aggressive

I do not want to enable location services. I do not want to create an account. I do not want to sign up for special offers and news about your product. I would like to engage in a simple transaction where I give you money in exchange for a good.

This act of arson was devastating - two torahs were destroyed and the entire library.

Beth Israel is the ONLY synagogue in Jackson.

The synagogue was bombed by the KKK in the 1960s because of its work with the civil rights movement and its fight against racism and segregation.

This isn't just a casual observation. Fascism scholars have long made this point. It's why calling them "weird" was a more effective strategy than talking about the prices of eggs. Fascism is an aesthetic political movement - you need to make people feel embarassed and horrified by it.
one of the most effective weapons we have against fascism is mockery, especially when its really funny
It occurs to me all the yelling at ICE in MPLS isn't merely funny. Getting made fun of like this is awful for morale. ICE is losing field officers faster than it can wave them through training, and a big part of it is how little of this these little weasels can take.
