I know ridiculously obscure details about film. Some people seem to think it’s a legitimate talent. One day, maybe it will earn me a living.

Watched the new BluRay of SLAUGHTER'S BIG RIP-OFF, and while it looks great, it's still the rescored version.
How is it that in 2025, UMG is still asking ridiculous money to clear the original James Brown music for physical media, AND the billionaire who now owns this movie won't bloody pay it?

"In an age where queerness in cinema is a bit more accepted … Kier’s proud embrace of his queerness as outsiderness, whether as a mad scientist, a lonely hustler, or even a vampire, makes him feel like a pioneer,” writes @clintworthing.bsky.social in his tribute to Udo Kier.

People have no idea how little it takes to move the needle a little bit for a writer. I didn’t know this, but it tracks with what I know.

Promote the Hell out of the things you love. The more obscure the better.
I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

Now, new reporting shows that Republican negotiators want to make a trans funding ban a requirement for the extension.

Republicans Privately Pushing Anti-Trans Funding Ban For ACA Subsidy Deal After Shutdown Compromise
The proposal, which was first detailed in the Wall Street Journal, could harm transgender people even in blue states if it becomes part of the negotiated deal.

Mom calls Houston police for help; HPD turns the kid over to ICE; John Whitmire at first claims they didn't do that, then reverses himself because his earlier statements simply weren't true, but says not to politicize it. 🤮
Emmanuel, a 15-year-old with intellectual disabilities, wandered away from his mom’s fruit stand in October.

She reported him missing to Houston police. But instead of reuniting them, the city turned him over to ICE.

“They’re failing all of us,” his mom said.

I just went on your website senator and I can't find a single thing on there about how troops can decide if an order is illegal and how you will help them if they decide such a thing.

Maybe work on that before you do the talk show circuit?
What a week and it’s only Tuesday. See me on Jimmy Kimmel tonight to talk all about it.

This, a million times over. Please tell people when you like their work. Creatives can go a very long time without any outside input at all, positive or otherwise, so a gesture of appreciation often makes all the difference in the world.
Remember your favorite creator possibly might be struggling with imposter syndrome and doubt and this timeline sucks.. so if you find yourself thinking “wow I really relate to this persons work” or that persons work gives you joy, you should probably tell them. It’s a hard time to be a creative.
