Feel very strongly that we can look back on this era and anyone who just stuck to weed and coffee will come out looking normal and like the future
Honestly all of these guys being obviously high off of their gourds and the fact that he's going to die soon are the two points of optimism I have about America. These guys aren't titans of industry, they're just dudes on ket

The way I'd put it is that there's currently a global struggle between democracy and nationalist gangster-capitalism, that this struggle is simultaneously unfolding both within and between states, and that the US currently sits at its epicentre
The New Cold War is against nationalist authoritarianism, and the US is on their side.
Little (open) sign that Europe has even begun to grapple with this.

>believes the boat strikes might be illegal

>>the drunk asks him to retire

>>>he retires
Exclusive: The four-star admiral in charge of Caribbean operations had concerns about the legality of the boat strikes. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth asked him to retire shortly after they started.

Feels like "missing" is inaccurate. This child was kidnapped by the secret police and is now either a political prisoner or a trafficking victim.

If “The Canterbury Tales” were written today it would be called “The Airport Chili’s Bar Tales” and I think that’s beautiful

oh my god
Senator Kelly is correct.

Plus a Public Service Announcement:

KEY section of Department of Defense's Law of War Manual is 18.3.2.1.

The VERY rule on the "requirement" to refuse illegal orders gives as its paradigmatic example of what is "clearly illegal:
"orders to fire upon the shipwrecked."

everyone will agree to my national housing program if we make the housing all art deco and mid century modern
My zoning code would only have two rules: glass tower skyscrapers should be adjacent from stonework ornamented ones to maximize cool reflections and there should be a Jamba Juice in every airport terminal. Otherwise, build whatever you want.

Does Pete Hegseth have a "golden shield" against prosecution in the form of a DOJ OLC opinion? Ed Whelan thinks not.

We literally executed Germans after the war for doing what Bradley and everyone else involved did, and the Germans had a better justification (u-boat plausibly being targeted based on info provided by survivors vs.......whatever the hell pete was worried about here)
Given the justification was in part because they might communicate with someone, pete could ask Heinz-Wilhelm Eck and his XO what the law of armed conflict says about that, except oops, the allies shot them dead in 1945 after a trial
WaPo with reporting that Pete gave an explicit order to JSOC during the first strike post impact to immediately follow up in order to, and I quote, "kill them all"

Yes, something that Israel does which is actually quite rare is consider all civilian workers, whether they be in municipal government or in private reconstruction or health sectors, to be combatants *by way of second, third, or even fourth degree association*.
Construction crews attempting to rebuild civillian infrastructure in Gaza or Southern Lebanon are also considered confirmed terrorists.

Fucked up.

This is the hardest I have seen any member of Congress work to try and address transphobia in Congress, and her ability to get nearly all Democratic lawmakers to sign onto this letter is something any first would applaud
House Dems unite to tell GOP to stop "demonizing" trans people with "dehumanizing" slurs - LGBTQ Nation
Rep. Nancy Mace's "tra**y, tra**y, tra**y!" tirade is just one example.

i don't like being forced to defend britain but on average, the UK has a higher life expectancy than any single US state, has a higher HDI than the united states, has less inequality than the united states, has a higher functional literacy rate than the united states... i could go on
People forget that Great Britain is basically Alabama outside of London only poorer people with weaker constitutions and worse food.
