MLK was only 39 when he was killed. Growing up, I thought that was old. But I’m 43 now and I’m stunned by the burden he shouldered at such a young age. I’m also a lot more aware of how hard it is, at any age, to carry the hopes and dreams of an oppressed people on your shoulders, as so many do.

Everyone here is talking about it. Everyone. Every place you go shopping, every errand you have to run. I got a note from neighbors a block over I've never met on my door asking if we need any assistance with anything or just wanted to talk.
people who have been divided on every local issue are doing things to help take care of each other. the only divide that matters right now is helpers or not. i’ve never seen an amount of unity and support like this. it really is Us vs Them

Ice in Blaine just patrolling the Kohls parking lot and apparently decided yelling at my 70 yr old aunt "keep moving bitch" while pointing weapons because she wasn't moving fast enough for them in the parking lot

The thing that's really convenient to not know is that nonprofits like Feeding Our Future exist because the nutrition reimbursement program is so burdensome IN THE NAME OF REDUCING FRAUD that a cottage industry exists just to fill out the paperwork on behalf of programs that actually feed children.
Let's review the facts at hand here: A Democratic administration discovered and prosecuted a case of welfare fraud. Republicans are now using this case to smear hundreds of thousands of immigrants and militarize an entire city.

It also doesn't make you an activist. There's nothing wrong with being an activist, but the way it's being used right now implies there's an agenda and therefore the person deserves it in some way rather than literally just protecting my neighbor.
if someone punches your neighbor and you go to protect them, that does not make you a protester. that makes you someone who protects your neighbor.

Minneapolis and Saint Paul have basically mobilized into a war economy of mutual aid and non-violent defense. I’ve never seen anything like it, even during Covid. People who barely vote are guarding their schools from ICE and doing the shopping for neighbors in hiding.
This is so smart. I’m so impressed with all the different ways you’re helping your neighbors.
