This is actually pretty close to the way I played Lake. Main character didn't end up hating her hometown, but also realized she didn't want to give up everything and move back.

Judging by how few other players got the "return to big city" achievement, my preferred ending seems to be rare.
Yes. Make this. Make “Sweet Home Alabama” but she’s reminded that her hometown sucks, her high school boyfriend is an asshole, everyone there is a bigot, and there’s nothing to do there but drink. So she goes back to the new city life she’s built, with renewed gratitude.
unironically a good idea

Watching so many defense-related blogs and channels trying to somehow explain Trump's "golden fleet" and fixation on "battleships" like it's somehow tied to a real strategy and not a man-baby's fantasy.

I'm not saying I *like* the bots now. But maybe I hate them just a little less.
Why are robots filling BlueSky with bskweets about Privateer? I’m not mad, I just want to know.

I completely forgot that you can see through some of the wrapping paper I bought last year, and accidentally used it to wrap a gift this year. I remain baffled - why would anyone sell see-through wrapping paper?

When you think about it this way, it's a real tear jerker.
Watching a movie about a lonely heart who comes out of their shell to form a found family with an unlikely group of strangers. That’s right, Alien (1979) is a Christmas movie

In retrospect the Bush-era War On Christmas stuff seems more ominous than it did at the time. It was just cable news guys crying about dumb/fake shit, then and now; I mean the campaign to turn Christmas, which most everyone likes and feels warmly about, into just another thing to get mad about.

I got so many Sierra adventure games as Christmas presents when I was a kid that this seems highly appropriate.
Looking for some retro gaming holiday cheer? Check out my compilation of Sierra On-Line's Christmas card demos from 1986 through 1992. When I came downstairs on Christmas morning as a 9 year old, my first computer (a Tandy 1000 EX) was under the tree with the 1986 version playing on a loop. 🎄

Poking around an archive of an old late 90s MIT website, and came across some lovely time-piece cat-and-computer pics.

I wonder if this piece is why trump was ranting about the nyt
DOGE will go down as an epic and disastrous fiasco.
On DOGE’s watch, federal spending did not go down at all. It went up. But is still led to cuts that closed offices, canceled programs and deprived people of food, medicine and other aid.

Try this instead: I was wrong. I overstated narrow election results, underappreciating how many Trump voters didn’t believe he’d do what he said. I miscast fascists and oligarchs gaining political power as a popular cultural shift. I got some of this on X, failing to recognize it’s skewed that way.”

I wish discourse about AI in game development would distinguish between "making new kinds of games that couldn't exist without this tech" and "making the same kind of games as before but cheaper and worse with fewer humans involved"
