Breaking: House Republicans pass Marjorie Taylor Greene's bill to criminalize doctors that provide gender-affirming care for trans kids. Her bill imposes jail time penalties up to 10 years. Now, it's headed to the Senate where it is not likely to advance as it would need 7 Democrats to sign on

A thing most Christmas Carol adaptations gloss over -- with good reason because it's confusing -- is that Scrooge's adventure, per Marley, seemingly takes place over four separate nights. Yet most adaptations ALSO keep "They've done it all in one night!" at the end, as some weird artifact.

Good story to wake up to and to remember in the days ahead.
When Rob Reiner was on his all-time epic run at the start of his career, he had an opportunity to read a script that was looking for a production partner, and he lost his mind for it. He decided Castle Rock had to have it, no matter what.

The cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing.

All from his movies.

Oh, here's a big surprise. The transphobes don't believe in ADHD either.
then, the transphobes , feeling victorious at how many people they have made unhappy and despairing in the previous week, move on to anything else that has a spectrum and the possibility of more colours than they can conceive - such hateful people - they cannot understand anything that is not THEM

As always, the #DoctorWho re-edit was a bit choppy but I have a soft spot for Pertwee.

+ I have a soft spot for first contact stories that dig into quirks of translation & hypothetical bureaucracy, so the spin-off hit the mark, too. (Even without its solid premise, "normal guy represents humanity")

My new yearʼs resolution in January was to take the idea for a novel I had and actually write it. Always compelled by a looming deadline, I finally finished this week. Whether itʼs any good is, frankly, a question for next year.

I know it's all capitalist bullshit, but there's 0 reason why a company like WB would need to sell itself. A storied company like that that owns basically almost everything should just making money by existing. It's ridiculous to believe otherwise.

The films are not fascinating pieces of art. But what *is* fascinating is how Cameron clearly loves all kinds of technology, from submarine machinery to cutting-edge VFX… and has used to to make a story about tribal people who rely on and fiercely defend nature. Such an interesting tension
I will never understand why James Cameron decided the waste the second half of his career making films about these godforesaken jungle smurfs.
