A far-right politician whose father was a Nazi will become Chile's next president, having run on anti-crime rhetoric.

Whenever a politician says "crime," they are promising violence. It's a protection racket: the more state violence, the more poverty; the more poverty, the more cartel activity.

I get tons of ideas every day. It's only by living with them and in them, and learning the craft and art of writing, that this means anything worth a darn.
The cliche that ‘having an idea’ is the hard part of writing is persistent and pernicious. Realising the idea is the craft of it. That FAQ of…

Yup, it's what it always comes down to at the end of the day - you have a divinely ordained bodily purpose to fulfil, and deviating from that (by choice or not) in any way is deemed wrong and unacceptable.
I think it's worth emphasising that this isn't Musk being thick and not realising women have hysterectomies. It's rooted in his misogynist, nazi politics – they really do think the only real women are those who are capable of giving birth. That's all women are really for.

Maybe people'll stop talking about midterms and calling senators when they start asking for all this *to leave* the US even temporarily. I promise you that's coming if we stay on this trajectory.

(Source is in the second skeet of thread)
NEW: Five years of social media history is only a fraction of what the US Government will shortly demand of overseas visitors.

The full requirements will end tourism in the United States.

Below is the full, mind-blowing list.

The latest iternation of the Protect Children's Innocence Act dangerously conflates trans health care with female genital mutilation and cutting. That has made it more difficult to pass laws trying to actually stop FGM/C, an extreme form of gender violence.

We've seen how putting a tech CEO in charge of the gov't turned out for the U.S. - now Carney is championing this idea for Canada

"The public service is not a business. It is a democratic institution that serves Canadians"
“These aren't charities. They're not altruistic organizations. Why would a tech company want to allow their employees to work for the government and pay 100 per cent of their salary..." — Simon Enoch at the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives www.nationalobserver.com/2025/12/10/n...
Ottawa hands corporate leaders 50 roles in government
Ottawa plans to embed the private sector workers after adopting a business group's proposal — even naming the program after them, a briefing note reveals.

There’s a larger thread to discuss regarding the ways international borders are breaking down a bit on internet content. An American financial institution bullying Japanese companies, a UK law forcing age verification measures globally, a German law dictating how a U.S. site operates, etc.
So this is fucked.. Cloudflare is going after Gelbooru using German laws to enforce content restrictions on a server in the United States. I don't know about you, but this is fucked.

Cancer drug Revlimid is one of the bestselling pharmaceutical products of all time, with total sales of over $100 billion.

This is the logical endpoint of neoliberalism. Governments are transformed so as to become accountable only to private entities, not the public. Canadian democracy is already dead, it just hasn’t hit home for all of us yet.
If you read nothing else I write, read this.
