The funny thing is there are absolutely traits skills and characteristics that financially super successful people have and they are:

money
being born into money
knowing other people with money
Michael C. Rockefeller got shipwrecked in 1963, washed up on an island, and was promptly eaten by cannibals.

It's easy to conjure the following path:

Real person submits real question to LLM
➙ LLM hallucinates a reference
➙ Real person searches for the reference
➙ LLM captures the request, measuring it as demand³
➙ LLM synthesizes a book-length text¹
➙ Synthesized text makes its way into circulation²
As an author, I’ve already gotten multiple emails from people asking me for fake articles and books that I’ve supposedly written, because chatbots have told them fake references. I *cannot imagine* the frustration and time waste for librarians and especially ILL library professionals right now.

Boy am I glad the first replacements for these ferries will be arriving in Feb 2026, with port upgrades at Picton and Wellington nearing completion after two and a half years of work.

Oh wait, hold on a second, just hearing that ferries won't be here until 2029.

These papers are "making the rounds," eclipsing work that's actually thorough. And they are lodging simplified points from paraphrased posts with summarized snippets into everyone's mind. It's significant work to trace back the steps and audit the actual study.

So Willis and Bishop - most senior in National - are steering us to disaster

Except the steering is broken

New ferries are 3 years away

The only suitable tug boat is being shelved permanently in two months

How on earth is this decent governance? How is this acceptable?

They should resign

‘Capitalism is the extraordinary belief that the nastiest of men for the nastiest of motives will somehow work for the benefit of all.’

Or in this case, the equally extraordinary belief that either Ruth Richardson or Nicola Willis care about people

I've often said that the main thing that RWers believe about the economy is that the poors are getting too much of the money.

Hold that in your head when listening to Richardson talk about the effects of her policies on the poor & who it is that needs to sacrifice for the good of the economy.

Pretty clear why the coalition have been so eager to discredit the UN.

This is a "worried well" effect in which well-resourced helicopter parents mainly want the opportunity to say "well the govt says it's illegal" to squeeze a few additional % productivity out of their pampered darlings, at the expense of those kids who are obliged to find community where they can

An NZ ban on Under 16YOs from using social media platforms won't only affect teens. Platforms will use it as an excuse to data grab info from older people too. Like PatronScan database used by Dakota Bar holding identity info of customers and with no deletion option. So many #privacy issues.

Has the National Party contemplated the bold step of them improving productivity by not being in power. There is more evidence for that than the justifications I am seeing in the media about worker holiday rights.

Holidays are proven to boost GDP because people shop, go to cafes, travel around and see the country, spend gazillions painting the house.🤷

Not bragging, but last november our power bill was $240. This year with the panels on the roof and the rebate it's only $74. In addition, we power an old Nissan Leaf and a flashy MG4.

How much do you spend on petrol per month?

If you can outlay on panels and an EV, do it.

This is good, it’s badly needed in NZ.

IMO this piece could’ve been stronger in its recs for prevention & more inclusive of other LC conditions, but I’m happy to see it.
