Sure, they've made an environmentally catastrophic mass hallucination disinformation plagiarism Clippy that will destabilize the world, but also their other goal is to replace human workers entirely and let us humans starve. A boycott of AI is the most important boycott of your entire life.
"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."
Analysis: OpenAI is a loss-making machine, how can it survive?
Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?

There is an actual life-changing conflict between WFH being cheaper and more efficient, an entire layer of middle managers who need to have meetings to feel alive, and the commercial real estate cabal that runs all cities. It’s going to get so fucking weird.
remote work is like birth control or UBI atp where there’s overwhelming research consensus they improve quality of life for people they apply to, yet access is impeded or blocked by the ruling class because the thought of marginalized ppl having rich full lives makes steam come out their ears
2. Rolling Stone is owned by a large media conglomerate, which is ending remote work across its brands.

My home is Portland, Oregon, ~1,000 miles from the nearest office, so this marks the end of the line for me at RS.

If you're using AI to write essays, eulogies, a text to your wife, I do think less of you as a person. Ceding your mental and creative abilities to a machine is an embarrassing thing and people should be ashamed to admit doing it in public.

how do people not get that democrats are purposely losing ARGHGGHG

oh, right: these media voices are themselves oligarch puppets that work to keep people from putting two and two together ARGHGGHG
A reminder that Dems went out of their way to NOT politicize their prosecutions of Trump. Garland dragged his feet. Biden kept his distance. And then they appointed a special counsel to look independent.

All a waste of time. You can never appease the GOP. So why do Dems keep trying? ARGHGGHG.

US politics becomes much easier to process when you accept that the establishment Democrats do not want to win anything and are not there to be an opposition. That's why young progressives and less conservative Dems trying to work through the party get attacked until they compromise and conform.

The big “why do you hate AI?” Thread got comments and quotes turned off, but here’s the main reason I hate AI:

It’s being developed by the worst people on the planet solely to enrich themselves at the expense and labor of the world’s vulnerable populations. Everything else stems from that

"Be water" tactics can work like a dance.

Protesters block a car, the loudspeaker says "move", the car calls for backup, the backup takes 5 minutes to arrive, an arrest team assembles and awaits orders, the orders are given...

And the crowd melts away. They get back in the car and then, same thing

Things Democratic Senators could do that would be useful:

- Withdraw unanimous consent from all Senate business until constitutional rule was restored

- Refuse to vote for any legislation until constitutional rule was restored

- Boycott as a caucus until constitutional rule was restored

My senator, Adam Schiff, has voted to confirm five members of Trump’s cabinet. There was no strategic rationale for doing so. California is a safe Dem state and he has six years before he’s up for re-election. There’s simply no plausible explanation beyond the fact that he supports Trump’s agenda.

The answer: hell yes! 734 visits from wild mice - plus rats, shrews, slugs ("running" being subjective here) & even frogs and snails.

The apparent reason: fun. Just fun.
