A boundless emptiness.
No sorrow, no joy. No tears, no laughter. No despair, no hope. No coldness, no longing. No wishes, no dreams. Nothing.
Bodies moving through life mechanically—without hearts, without souls.
We are the walking dead, wandering until death finally saves us.

Blessed are the frogs, for they keep making authoritarians look incredibly stupid
Three persons in inflatable frog costumes. One of them is holding a nicely painted sign with two little cartoon frogs holding hands, below the text "FROGS TOGETHER STRONG"

Fund Friday post :

Happy Friday Yall. Post fundraising links, cashapp links, whichever campaign needing help on . ♥️
Screenshot of a text message conversation on a purple background. The first message from AJ Link at 7:48 AM reads: “Howdy pals. Can I ask for a favor. If anyone has capacity or time today can they do a fund Friday post. I know lots of people need help.” This message has a heart reaction. The second message, also at 7:48 AM, replies: “Obviously what everyone does with their CPU is sacred. So no pressure.“

is it not weird that every day there’s a new video of anonymous masked men having the time of their lives beating/shooting/disappearing people and the dem response from the top down is “republicans want to double your health insurance premiums”

Ah, gerontocracies.

The Soviet Union was widely ridiculed for their ancient General Secretaries. The oldest of them died when he was 75, which is TWO YEARS YOUNGER THAN THE PERSON YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT.

A new bill that recently passed the Senate will let members of Congress censor information about themselves online.

The result is easy to predict: suppression of the press from reporting about Congress.

Check out this op-ed from FPF's @caitlinvogus.bsky.social:
Cruz-Klobuchar bill would sacrifice speech for a false sense of security
Cruz-Klobuchar bill censors online information too broadly in the name of security, writes senior adviser at Freedom of the Press Foundation.

same guys who are "concerned!!!! about women's sports" when it means excluding and isolating trans girls from sport lol. misogyny all the way down. for so many men, women's sports is something inherently lesser and another stage for objectification and comedy with female athletes as the punchline

“The truth is that antifa and anti-fascist groups have been responsible for some of the most prescient and impactful organizing countering the far-right during the last decade.”
What Liberals Get Wrong About Trump’s Executive Order on Antifa
Liberals dismiss antifa as just an idea. That opens up the activists, researchers, and organizers to a real risk of persecution.

I haven't read it (and won't) but I've noticed a correlation between when AI is on the ropes (legally, financially, reputationally) that a rash of articles pop up (esp in AI-friendly places like NYT and WIRED) about the "world ending power!!!" of AI... now with just a single prompt!! 🙄

It's hype.

Who Link was here & how he formed site culture, insisting on alt text & accessibility & disability justice, insisting on standing with trans people, mutual aid, irreverent shitposting, shows exactly that this culture of early bluesky that forged the platform is the opposite of what the team wants.

Literally they've shot two people in Chicago alone, we're all unbelievably fortunate the woman they shot last fucking weekend survived

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed
vickyacab.bsky.social
I know there's a lot to keep up with but someone has ALREADY been killed by ICE in Chicago, its not a theoretical question, and folks are dying in ICE detention and being disappeared constantly, when you say "someone's gonna get killed" youre actually washing the blood from their hands 😘✌️

given that i can't leave the country, the rhetoric around Leave The Country Or Die left me paralyzed with severe depression for months. if that's the rhetoric you push, you will be right, because people who can't leave will give up and die and we won't have the numbers to survive collectively

Again, focusing on individuals staying or going misses the point.

What does become a real problem is when the issue gets framed (usually by more gentry expats or those who follow them) as "everyone who stays is doomed."

That is false and it is genuinely, unacceptably damaging.

There has been a lot of ICE activity in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago today. There has also been a lot of ICE watch and rapid response activity. We love our community, and we are showing up for each other.

5/15/21: Israel bombs AP's offices in Gaza.

5/22/21: Emily Wilder posts this stmt about AP firing her bc she became the target of a harassment campaign painting her as antisemite etc for essentially daring to criticize Israel in college & see Palestinians as people.

Mutual recognition is mostly a mirage in this sense because one side already recognized the other. I don't care about recognition I care about the facts of the dynamic and if Israel recognized us tomorrow but maintained the occupation it would mean not a single thing.

It is self soothing to say that if only Palestinians accepted Israel then everything would be unlocked and peace would be possible. OK well that already happened, more than once, and what did it result in? When will people seriously grapple with the idea that perhaps Israel is a lot like Russia?

PLO recognized Israel in 1988 and 1993 and then what happened is a question nobody seems to answer on here

We usually talk about parasocial relationships from the perspective of a fan obsessing over a creator

But perhaps equally bad is a creator who uses their platform as a best friend, therapist, and diary

If you want endless uncritical validation for your feelings go talk to your BFF

while I admit that airlifting the entire trans population of Florida *would* be rad as hell, I also recognize that it is impractical at best
davidforbes.bsky.social
Trans people (and queer people broadly) are overwhelmingly working class populations highly reliant — like many groups under fire — upon community networks and support.

What's going to happen? Airlifting the entire trans population of Florida? Get serious.

So, what follows from this...
