Well, here we all are. I'm a dad of three, a hospital chaplain semi-reluctantly ascended to management, a film photographer, a board game fan, a reader, and a pizza topping maximalist.

My interests tend to run broad, and in this next political epoch I'm trying to keep my focus local and joyful.

I don't know what to do but just keep repeating it so I don't go insane: the rise & eventual total domination of RW media is the single most significant political development of my lifetime and the entirely of the US political & media elite resolutely refuse to discuss or even acknowledge it.

I never want an algorithmic feed. I want to choose who I follow and see them chronologically. Bluesky allows me to default to that option and rarely messes with it. That's huge.

There’s only 1 person in Congress who doesn’t trade stocks, doesn’t take corporate PAC money, and has a public schedule. That’s me. And it should be the standard.

People respond to being part of something, to being in a story that has a purpose. These are highly charged times, and identifying as a moderate is an implicit endorsement of the status quo. It makes you sound either insanely out of touch, or intolerably wimpy.
And this was interestingly unanimous— and not being that well reflected yet in the offerings from actual Dem politicians. Word to the wise

There is no drawdown. There is no retreat. ICE is just redistributing their assets to better avoid accountability.
The same day DHS announced the surge would end in Minnesota, ICE activity increased in small towns
The less densely populated areas outside the Twin Cities make it harder for protesters and observers to organize.

Apparently, Nick Fuentes has been selling these.

So the Urban Rescue Ranch guy is wearing Nick Fuentes merch, explicitly meant to honor Epstein. And trying to hide it when he gets backlash.

Not sure where you personally draw the line on who you support, but.

Yeah.

We especially need the Michelle Goldbergs, Nell Irvin Painters, Atul Gawandes, and Jeet Heers to own their shit.

You fucked up, it's not that hard to say, "I made a mistake and didn't have the savvy to see that letter was a weapon in the hands of the fascists."

Repentance!
we need some way to get the harpers letter and entire “free speech” crowd cornered and on the record about this, i can’t deal with people being like “where are they now hmm” anymore, I need them cornered and on the record
Stephen Colbert said that the FCC and CBS - which is in no way a compromised or complicit organization - wouldn’t allow him to broadcast an interview with Democratic State Rep James Talarico. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/17/a...

You could knock off Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan, and Wisconsin would still clean up (derogatory).

The left, being actually educated, with enough humanities to have discernment and judgement as well as moral reasoning, is pretty damn good at metabolizing new information. And it sniffed this pile of badly generated shit to discern it’s environmentally & informationally poisonous as hell.
I think this is directionally correct and honestly I'm less concerned about what it means for the left's take on AI than I am for the left's ability to metabolize new information and changing circumstances generally www.transformernews.ai/p/the-left-i...
The left is missing out on AI
As a movement, it has largely refused to engage seriously with AI, ceding debate about a threat and opportunity to the right

Fuck every last one of these creeps. How are we supposed to have a decent society with people like Starr and Kavanaugh and Trump and Epstein in positions of power?
Files show convicted sex abuser messaged with Ken Starr and others about Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford
Epstein sympathized with Kavanaugh during supreme court confirmation, emails show

My hypothesis for why the Gavin Newsom fight cycles through every month or two is that he's got a sharp social media team that is doing their damndest to make "fetch" happen by running a number of sock puppet accounts (on both sides of the argument).
sorry, did time fold and dump us all in the future where Newsom won the primary? Why are some of you yelling at everyone who says they don’t want to vote for a guy who sucks?

USA buyers only, first come, first served. I’ll be responding to DMs as soon as I can.
