'An ordinary president, Kelly told us on Tuesday afternoon, would have responded to the video by affirming that troops should of course follow lawful orders. “But not this guy,” he added. “We basically said, ‘Follow the law.’ And he said, ‘Kill them.’”'

Tbh, moving around the US one thing I noticed young was the ingrained racism in the Northeast. They were all convinced that was a Southern problem.

Agreed. Even if you’re not a fan of pumpkin pie it’s a ritual!

I taught slavery -including breeding in slavery-in introductory lecture courses (400 people Texas, 150 in PA). Many teach far more than I do. Why do you think universities are targeted? New research always coming out because the work continues.

Depended (I’m older than you) on where I was: California yes, southern Virginia no for me. But for the entirely of my time teaching in universities it has been a subject of teaching and research. Teach it more, yes, but I hate seeing the work of all those scholars erased.

Who cares, Forbes? Do you think this is a game?

It’s not sustainable. It’s not democratic. It’s not decent. Redistribution is not just desirable now, it is absolutely necessary. Remember, much of that wealth came from theft (AI), exploitation and wage theft, inheritance, and corrupt government subsidies. This cannot stand.
You cannot have a functioning economy when so few people at the top hold so much of the nation’s wealth. It’s not sustainable.

People talk about it. People teach it. People research it. That’s one powerful reason why universities -all teachers- have been viciously attacked.

David Cole: “The administration maintains it can investigate Senator Kelly because he is a retired naval officer. In other words, because he fought for his country — something Donald Trump managed to avoid doing — Senator Kelly has less First Amendment protection than the rest of us. That’s wrong”

With you

True.

AI is the most shameless theft: simply to enrich billionaires. An angry scholar, a developer of AI, told me. I checked. All of my books stolen -probably in multiple languages though I didn’t check that. Yours too I expect. They owe us.

I feel like this story isn't being discussed enough, so we jumped on it for our live coverage today.
Trump Cancels Release of Third Economic Report to Hide His Failures
Wow, he is one pathetic loser.

No matter how long I live after we get through this dark chapter, I will never get over the immorality, the amorality, the corruption, the criminality and the cruelty in service to one of the worst humans to ever walk the earth.
When a person needs help, you help them.

That’s exactly what Our Daily Bread – one of Maryland’s largest hot meal programs – has done for over 46 years. All without a single interruption in service.

This is how our government has been corrupted:

1) Donors give huge sums to elect politicians to office
2) Elected officials rewrite rules in the donors' favor
3) Donors make huge profit
4) Repeat

We must get big money out of politics.

It is the root of our dysfunction.
Unbelievable.

Very few things piss me off more than anti-vax morons killing their children.

My sister is a nurse. My oldest daughter is a nurse. My wife is a lab tech. And...and one time...I was a nurse. Don't tell my family...or the hundreds of thousands of other families...that nurses...and those in the health field...aren't "professionals."

You're Goddamn right we're professionals.

Busting up big corporations and tackling Wall Street’s greed.

Getting big money out of politics.

Strengthening unions and fighting for higher wages.

Medicare for all, paid family leave, universal childcare...

This is the progressive populist agenda we need in America.

So many! Chestnut, sage and sausage; hatch chili, half cornbread, and pine nuts; kale and oyster. All cornbread is a no for me gets claggy, but just play with it. Don’t let people bully you into the back of the box recipe. You can make a separate pan for them.

He should have been impeached and convicted long ago. But do you have the votes?
I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1
