If the entire Trump administration doesn't realize that this would guarantee that the Trump pardons they're all banking on will also be declared invalid by a future president, nobody tell them.
BREAKING: President Trump declared that all of former President Biden’s pardons are now “invalid.” There is no legal mechanism for presidents to revoke their predecessors’ pardons but if Trump is taken seriously, thousands could be thrown into legal chaos.

So here’s the thing: I, a certified Disabled™️ Person, do not actually care if anyone fakes for an extra 20 minutes on the test. I care deeply about how the fear of that very thing puts up flaming hoops disabled people have to jump through.

Maybe listen to disabled folk on this one.
Balancing "no person with a disability should be denied accommodations" with "it's important to discourage non-disabled people from pretending to be disabled to take advantage of these accommodations" is really difficult and I don't have a great answer for what anyone should do about it.

I like how their absolute worst nightmare is that one day we might give all students more time and a calmer environment to complete tests.
And here are two senior editors at @theatlantic.com smugly telling us on X how accommodations are now a "problem"
Maybe @yappelbaum.bsky.social and @giladedelman.bsky.social would like for disabled students to be drummed out of education altogether--perhaps institutionalized?

A coworker's daughter was diagnosed with something (I forget) that needed accommodations. The school required notes from multiple doctors and several forms filled out before providing anything. I said, "What about kids who can't get that?"
"Rich kids are gaming disability accommodations to gain an unfair advantage" is actually very different from "America has an extra-time-on-tests problem" — and the author hasn't proved that either! Rich kids might just be more likely to be diagnosed.

This raises another interesting (to me) point, which is that our total failure to provide health care nationally by definition means that the only folks who can afford to be tested for disabilities are the ones who are wealthy enough to afford the time and copays.

Can you imagine how many of the people facing homelessness today, right now, just here on Bluesky, could be made secure for months, if one billionaire decided to part with ONE of their billions.

Just one.

Just go off on a donating spree to people in need.

Just one billionaire, one billion.
That feeling of despair when you see so many people who need help, sometimes quite a small sum of money, and you desperately want to help as many as you can, but you have already given as much as you can without fucking your own limited budget.

IT FUCKING SUCKS

Billionaires don't have this problem

It’s not that far off of All County Building Supply & Maintenance, the wholly owned Trump subsidiary that existed only to receive Trump Landlord purchase orders, fulfill them, and then charge the Trump Landlord companies a 100%+ upcharge, which money went into accounts for the Trump children.
Nvidia is spending $1.3 billion to rent its own chips back from CoreWeave, a company in which it owns a $4 billion stake.

There are, AFAICT, only two explanations for this arrangement:

(1) It's accounting fraud.
(2) It's accounting non-fraud, because we don't prosecute financial crimes anymore.

HEGSETH: I did not personally see survivors. The thing was on fire. This is called the fog of war. This is what you in the press don't understand. You sit in your air conditioned offices and plant fake stories in the Washington Post
