Imagine being this guy who decides, of the day on anti-semitic terrorist attack, to try to fight with grieving Jews about whether 15 million is a small number of people*
That's not what 'objective' means. 15 million is not a small number, and isn't even small when referring to ethnic or national groups.

I know it's hard for a lot of Labour supporters to accept but it's true: silence and equivocation in the face of racism, failure to employ all legal means to defeat it, is de facto collusion. It just is. And it has to be condemned, not denied or excused.
Harry Cole hasn't changed. He's always been what he is now. But he's never felt able to platform racists before. That is the government's fault. They have sat by and allowed racism to become normalised. So very obviously apologists for racism will take advantage.

[Bayless nods]
You KNOW the President has done better than his predecessors in getting NATO allies to start budgeting adequately for defense
Bayless: Absolutely
Stephen A: BUT!

I hope the Muslim man who risked his own life to save complete strangers is given some kind of formal honor in Australia. He was shot twice even though you can’t see his injuries in the video. He’s recovering in a hospital right now.

The future may well be yet another massive prestige gap opening up between universities that have the resources to offer AI-free teaching and AI-resistant assessment, and those that don’t.

I have thought this for a while, & that an obvious advantage for tutorial-system universities like Oxford is that it’s quite hard to use AI to cheat your way through an hour 1:1 or 1:2 in person with an expert, or in supervised exams. Which is why it’s so stupid of them to have partnered with OpenAI
Predicting that some universities will soon pledge to provide AI-free instruction, and that this will be an advantage in recruiting and training top students
Nothing will make you an education AI skeptic faster than grading some college take home assignments. Admins who haven’t been in a classroom in years push it as a learning tool. Students are laughing at them as they use it as a cheating tool. It’s all instructors are texting about with each other.

As a huge fan of Doc Ock/Alfred Molina for over 20 years Ive wanted to animate him for a long time! Its not often I animate humans as they can be a bit challenging, but for a rough practice clip Im happy with the turnout! :D

If there's an AIPAC tracker, there's no reason not to have an NRA or SpaceX (which has given a lot more than AIPAC) tracker.

Curious.
Start naming mass shootings after politicians who take money from the NRA.

Yeah I’m pretty sure it’s from the hearing Onyx is talking about here. It would be good to read this since a lot of people don’t have context at the moment.
#savespeech #stopKOSA

Today, I also come bearing notes from the Judiciary Committee hearing on "online child safety."

+ THE GOOD:
- No vote on any legislation.
- Anger on KOSA in the House being defanged.
- A few new bills, two of them seem ok:
+ the (ECHO) Act
+ the Stop Sextortion Act

Update: this appears to have been from three days ago and the bill has yet to be introduced. Folks, this bill may have died before introduction.
The hearing this clip is from is from like the 9th anyway. Although I’d have to check with someone who saw that hearing

Now, before everybody panics and runs around like headless chickens, they have yet to introduce the bill, and Graham and Whitehouse have tried to pass this before and failed. The previous versions have never made it past the introduction stage.
Sen. WHITEHOUSE: We finally are moving to file a bipartisan Section 230 repeal bill. Waiting any longer serves no useful purpose.

I’m so fucking tired of dreading every Jewish holiday because it means something horrible is gonna happen in my community.

If you think this is in any way acceptable, you could not care less about Palestinians. There is no excuse for acquainting 14 million people with a genocidal government.

Just saw people arguing that the shooting in Sydney wasn’t antisemitic because Chabad is a Zionist movement, and killing Zionists is fine.

Fucking ghouls. Get fucked.

Sean O'Brien really deserves to be seen as someone instrumental in helping to destroy labors power in this country
This is a great piece on Trump's near-destruction of the National Labor Relations Board. (And I'm betting they don't let the Acting GC go on-the-record about anything after his performance here. Kudos to @msainato.bsky.social for a very effective interview.) www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

the other thing is that he got radicalized when government regulations shut down his gambling haunts for a time because of the pandemic. this is downstream of that; this is all about someone who was forced to recognize they were part of the society that had made them wealthy & crashed-out instead
If you're wondering what happened to Nate Silver, he was into the COVID lab leak theory and got negative feedback online, including from epidemiologists and virologists and (GASP!) posters, which added to his belief that The Woke are victimizing Nate Silver. It spiraled from there.

I'm not kidding.

We often say “Touch Grass” but for real, everyone is well-served by touching grass. It’s easy to see how many of our worst and most toxic personalities online and in culture and in politics were terminally online people poisoned by the septic pools they filled for themselves.

Like Columbo, you get one, maybe two new details about the detective in each movie, but not enough to really understand the guy. Though this third one came closest, I think, to a read-between-the-lines backstory.
my favorite thing about the benoit blanc movies is that they aren't really about benoit blanc. he is not grappling with demons from his past. we are not getting flashbacks to the husband whose murder he never solved. he just shows up and does his job like mary poppins for homicides
