So interesting! Kudos to you for pursuing the record.
It's 2025, and we're sharing bootleg 60 Minutes segments broadcast in other countries because our own country is being run by fascists and their billionaire-owned state media helpers, just as the Founding Fathers intended, of course.

Don’t forget. Biden’s DoJ was investigating uncharged third parties in the Epstein files up until the last minute. Trump shut down the investigation, sent the files to DC, & fired the prosecutors. They went through them, redacted Trump’s name, then elected not to release them and closed the matter.

Sorry to see that the jury convicted Judge Dugan. I didn't think the evidence supported a conviction.
For those asking about sentencing, the 1505 charge carries a 5-year maximum, but Judge Dugan's guideline sentence will be much lower, because she's a first-time offender & there are mitigating factors. And of course, there will be an appeal before the conviction becomes final.

I want to read this book.
What's hiding in some attorney-client retainer agreements?
Contingent fees should mean access to justice, but as you'll see, that's not always the case.

Rob Reiner: “Silence in the face of authoritarianism is complicity. Speaking out is a patriotic act. Democracy doesn’t defend itself. It requires participation, vigilance, and courage from ordinary people."

Thank you Minnesota! Go Birds!🦅
Just want to share with my American friends how the Australians respond to a shooting tragedy. Action, rather than thoughts and prayers.

Interesting reflections, Ilya! Thanks for sharing.
Brutal but effective public health messaging from New York Public Health.

The CDC is compromised. They’re no longer a reliable source of information.

They push anti-vaxx & anti-science grift.

Get your vaccines. Wear a respirator. Clean the air

Get public health advice from experts, not RFK Jr

Personally I'd like to see the American jury as persons of the year.

This tasty digestif to the Sandwich Guy case chews on each slice of the deliberations, tantalizingly giving readers a rich flavor of why jurors found the evidence so unpalatable and disgorged all charges against the defendant. Condiments to the reporter.

Looking forward to reading this piece!

Thanks for these thoughts Josh!

The anti-Eagles coverage on ESPN is outrageous! 🦅 Go Birds even if Troy Aikman diminishes you at every opportunity.

Mike, kudos to you for teaching our students (and the rest of us) about Con Law in the News! Such an important contribution!
For years, I've begun each day of Constitutional Law with "Con Law in the News." It has been a semester like no other. Trump's transformation of the US into a racist and lawless authoritarian regime has provided a cornucopia of material for my class. I'll almost miss him if he ever leaves office. 👇

One other benefit; research shows that serving on a jury increases a person's likelihood of engaging in other civic activities. So it strengthens democracy! Especially important now.

In the US we leave it up to the judges themselves to decide whether they are biased. Rarely happens!

Great points!

Judges are human! Of course they experience bias. The selection process of jurors and the group nature of the verdict help to limit jury bias.

Excellent article explaining why restricting jury trials is exactly the wrong thing to do in this moment when democracy is threatened.
"The reason trial by jury is so important is also the reason the authorities seek to restrict them: juries can think independently"

Jenrick has already pledged that a Tory govt would reverse 'Blair-era changes' that restrict ministerial involvement in judicial appointments.
“Cutting ordinary people out of the judicial system, weakening the scope of jury trials, and leaning even more upon magistrates and judges, will reinforce a more technocratic system and only deepen public mistrust.” My @theobserveruk.bsky.social column: observer.co.uk/news/columni...
