I understand that the reason for this decision, as with Guides, is because terfs are dedicated, resource-rich activists who will bury these groups in legal cases.

But real solidarity would be to let them do it. Show the world how terfs will burn us all rather than let trans people experience joy.

The miserable bigots that made this stuff a reality are so sheltered that they will never know consequences. The only way they're getting blowback is if you pull them up on this every time they show their faces in public.
This part is *infuriating*. This cis woman heard an 80 year old trans woman say, 'This is the only place I've been respected as a woman IN MY LIFE.'

And did not immediately think, 'I will fight every inch like a dying badger to keep her in my organization.'

Absolutely pathetic.

So there we have it.

This may sound beyond the realms of reality but: the NHS puberty blockers trial is being run by a cabal of transphobic cranks.

SEGM has been publicly spurned by multiple medical authorities as outside the mainstream, and as not a credible scientific organisation.
The puberty blocker trial is about to start according to the BBC, led by Dr Emily Simonoff. The same Dr who spoke at a symposium organised by Segm, a group designated an anti trans hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Centre /1

Could do with a bit of clarity here - is he saying it isn't a breach to deny a trans person the use of a (particular) toilet, or to deny a trans person the use of a toilet (at all)?
23/ Cross turns to human rights. He says there is no authority for the proposition that it will be a breach of a trans persons’ human rights not to permit them to use a toilet.

writing a piece on this tomorrow but I think the bland truth is that a lot of people just don't care! saw it in Westminster too, fundamentally a lot of men - and some women - simply don't really give a shit if a man is said to be a sexual abuser, as long as they don't have to see if they don't care
One of the more upsetting things in this is that he wasn't blackmailing them: These men were part of this and protecting him not out of obligation or even particularly out of access, but out of solidarity.
Lots of people say: that’s because he’s blackmailing them, but I don’t think he’s blackmailing Kathy Ruemmler! I don’t think that’s what explains it.

The company. The people who made the decisions. All of them.

They got away with killing hundreds for the sake of a few cents per share of increased earnings. 🤬

"Tuesday’s election night was a resounding repudiation of those who insist that Democrats must cut their trans constituents loose in order to win elections."
For @msnbc.com I wrote about how Tuesday's election gives Democrats the blueprint for overcoming Republican anti-trans attacks and how thus should settle all the talk about throwing trans people under the bus.

Opinion | Democrats’ election wins showed they don't need to hide their support for trans rights
Republicans repeated Trump's anti-trans strategy from 2024 and lost big. This should be instructive for Democrats.

Also there is no CRLGBT because too much of the world is still too homophobic and transphobic for one to be credibly brought forward, which is imo leading to that perverse attempt to weaponise CEDAW: "well here's the women's treaty I don't see one for the queers so hard luck" is real nasty stuff!
Where treaties (not just CEDAW but also CRPD and CERD) exist that have a specific group focus, that focus is not to grant additional, special rights to those groups that others are not granted, but to recognise the specific need to address barriers to rights realisation that others do not face

this will probably get the least attention but "being in work" is an unhinged requirement, maybe even more so than the forced labour

(though the 10 year change is by far the worst)
Mahmood says she will introduce new conditions for indefinite leave to remain:

Lived here 10 years not 5
Being in work
Not taking a penny in benefits
No criminal record
Giving back to community eg volunteering

Shame on Downing Street for going along with this. So much for being committed to a free press

Charlie Kirk spent his life‘s work and all of his energy and time targeting out-groups while arguing for a world in which gun massacres would be easy to enact, plentiful, and inevitable, and he became famous and wealthy doing it, and we’re now not supposed to mention that because it’s not polite.

The media losing their shit over “taxpayer money” being used to pay for 5 police to arrest Glinner are decidedly quiet about the THOUSANDS of police hours used to arrest grandmothers holding signs calling for the end to genocide in Gaza! 🤷🏼‍♀️

Make it make sense!!!
The U.K. mainstream media is absolutely OBSESSED with any story that allows them to take a swipe at trans people… Even if it means they have to back an unhinged abusive bigot, who by his own admission has lost everything due to his transphobia!

But they won’t cover Trans Pride! 😖

It wasn't "Trans issues". It was a tweet telling people to violently and physically assault a trans person if they came across one in a bathroom. That is incitement to violence, not "trans issues"...

I feel like in the 1980’s/90’s this would be a major plot point in a Tom Clancy novel, and the operation would be carried out as an off-book, illegal black op, with various characters trying to cover it up lest they face congressional hearings. Now the President just announces it.
Here's the video Trump just posted to Truth Social, with the claim that 11 people aboard the boat were killed.

There is zero evidence of self-defense here. Looks like a massacre of civilians at sea.

Even if they had drugs aboard, that's not a capital offense.

I feel like they're trying to manage the electorate like a CLP, where people are with you or against you. If they're so against you that they leave that's even better! They're no longer even a factor!

The country does... not work like that. People being so hacked off they leave the tent is bad.
It does not help that said carrots are being presented in secret and alongside the very clear message "If you don't like it you can fuck off, pricks". This may possibly turn out to be a poor strategy.

Sunk by the decision to longlist a proudly anti-trans author.

Credit to the other longlisted authors who were willing to sacrifice award nomination to instead stand in solidarity with their community. This really meant something.
