all these stupid meathead criminal motherfuckers are going to want to riot when they learn they’re getting a $10K/yr pay cut five years from now anyway, cut out the middleman and press the max sentence on the DUI convictions and DV calls they’re gonna get in the intervening years, strip the pensions
a not insignificant number of these tools are meathead, low security, Bureau of Prison employees who want to fulfill their desires to kick ass. I’ll bet most didn’t read or understand the fine print on the $50K bonus payout timeline.

I’m looking for a lot of undo button promises from the 2028 Democratic field, but I’d really like to see some candidate get behind the federal government unwinding some of these incredibly hinky deals with Musk.

I just need to explain how absurd the court cases around the offshore wind projects are getting

Because the federal government is arguing it paused work on the wind projects to try and mitigate impacts to security

But they’re refusing to give any info about security impacts to the companies

I actually doubt Trump will try to take credit for or acknowledge it - Trumpism is predicated on the perception that American cities are unsafe hellholes and must be destroyed and replaced with suburbs and a falling murder rate cuts against that ideology.
We're going to see a gobsmackingly low murder rate for 2025, possibly the lowest on record. This of course is great news.

But Trump is going to try to take credit for it. So keep this graph in mind. The steep drop began in 2022.

In addition to Good's murder, ICE has been busy in Minneapolis causing car wrecks and traffic jams, filling the streets with tear gas and goons with loaded weapons, issuing specific threats and sewing general chaos.

This is not law enforcement to preserve order. It's an occupation to cause chaos.
Trump's thugs are going hog wild and tossing gas around in one of the busiest commercial districts in Minneapolis, just a mile or so from where I live. Complete insanity.

New Gallup figures in these charts. Well, so much for that emerging Republican majority people were writing about in November 2024. Was evidently a mass overreaction to Trump's win and failure to acknowledge softness of support, and thermostatic politics www.gelliottmorris.com/p/trumps-win...

By every metric, congestion pricing been a success. And even most of the people who opposed it in NYC have since come around.

But it may still be a red meat issue to *people who don't actually live here* and that's presumably whom he's trying to appeal to.
New York news: Trump is vaguely threatening to end congestion pricing, again. Unclear why he is bringing this up now.

I'm reminded of how the images of Yanukovich's Berkut goons attacking & killing people radicalized even his base against him.
ICE is now behaving in such a way that even Tucker Carlson’s favorite Holocaust minimizing, Hitler-apologist “historian” is like “hey now guys, this is getting a little out of hand.”

One basic pattern here is that DHS officials are engaging in violence simply because they are irritated at citizens protesting them. There is no plausible threat of violence here. He just wants to inflict pain, and believes there will be no penalty for doing so.
Big clash this afternoon between DHS agents and protesters in a residential street in Minneapolis, following a DHS agent hitting another vehicle. Tear gas was deployed in people’s yards and agents pepper prayed people.

It’s a huge ruling and suggests other stop work orders against offshore wind farms in progress may very soon fail too

Powell standing up to Trump is the same thing as the Minneapolis residents standing up to ICE - both rely on the realization that all of their power flows out of their ability to make you afraid, and you don’t have to be, and then they have barely any power over you anymore.

It occurs to me all the yelling at ICE in MPLS isn't merely funny. Getting made fun of like this is awful for morale. ICE is losing field officers faster than it can wave them through training, and a big part of it is how little of this these little weasels can take.
