The dark spots on the moon are called "maria" (seas) and are named stuff like "Sea of Tranquility". E because of that the International Astronomical Union officially declared that Moscow is a state of mind.

At my grandmother's funeral, a former neighbour, also a farmer, turned up with a gift for all the mourners

He'd brought a truckload of cauliflowers grown on her old land-now, these were top quality restaurant grade cauliflowers, but it was a VERY Devon thing

Doubt many went to the compost bins tho
Me at the funeral: in honor of my parents, we are asking everyone to take ten pounds of wheat and put it in their recycling

Me, a week ago: I am sure 6-7 annoys parents, but children have always constructed a shared language outside of adult society. This is necessary! Good for them!

So many comparisons between Britain's 1st industrial revolution and the growth of generative AI are facile. These examples are ripe for comparative analysis by historians who study and understand the IR. (Stand aside, History Reclaimed). A sharing link for 3 non-subscribers. @echistsoc.bsky.social

One thing that gets me every time this comes up is when somebody turns evil and people act like they were evil their whole life. No.

Children are not born evil or hateful or bigoted. That behaviour is learned and people learn it at different points in their lives.

As a retired teacher, the thing that shocked me re Farage's school exploits was the fact that as a young man of 17 he went out of his way to find and bully a 9-YEAR-OLD. During my entire professional career, dealing with many behavioural issues, I never found a 17 year old who would sink that low.

Obviously this is talking about more serious things but this speaks to something bothering me, that despite this meant to be the era of the brand, companies have massively watered down their unique personalities in a way that undermines customer affection/loyalty
Thinking about how moving away from people-first is a growing trend, and how this is something quite important. It's been on my mind since my local McDonald's refurbished, and there's a reason for that.
