The biggest problem with "Strong Floor, No Ceiling," besides being structurally unsound, is the enemy it identifies.

It’s whoever is trying to put “a ceiling” on the top-earning Americans.

That should be the Democratic Party. It's a slogan that runs against its own party base!
It’s time to start the 2028 primary and step over this donor-coddling "Strong Floor, No Ceiling" nonsense.

For @gilduran.com and @george-lakoff.com's @theframelab.bsky.social, I wrote about why DC Dems won't appeal beyond the donor base.

There's another way to put an expiration point on Trumpism.
Democrats’ New Slogan Is a Donor-Class Disaster

We spend all this time asking prestige media to have any fucking values, like, eg, telling the truth, and they're always like "well you just don't understand how journalism works." No, we get it, and it sucks

Thing is if one side of your readership claims the guy's a fascist and the other side says he's a patriot you can't be like "well the truth is somewhere in between" because that doesn't make sense. Instead of choosing a side you're committing to saying that all your readers are morons. Oh wait
The NYT’s Patrick Healy asks a ridiculously both-sides question in which he tars critics as partisans who want the Times to “referee the news.” How about telling readers clearly that Trump is dismantling democracy? You offer the evidence. You’re just afraid to draw the conclusion. 🧵 2/4

There’s a certain cutthroat elegance in finding and posting Hegseth saying exactly the same thing he’s attacking you for.
Pete Hegseth says he’s going to court-martial me for saying the same exact thing he said 9 years ago. What changed for Pete? Well to start, he spends all day thinking about how he can suck up to Trump. When Trump says jump, he says how high.

100% the lawyers said "you can't do that," and 100% the deciders (including) POTUS said "who cares, there are no consequences."

And that is 100% the fault of SCOTUS and its wretched unitarism, fully immunized.
BREAKING: President Trump declared that all of former President Biden’s pardons are now “invalid.” There is no legal mechanism for presidents to revoke their predecessors’ pardons but if Trump is taken seriously, thousands could be thrown into legal chaos.

Actually, the likelihood is 100%. In US jurisprudence, accused people are innocent until proven guilty. Hegseth's victims were not proven guilty; they were not even tried. Therefore they were ALL, to the last man, legally innocent. Hegseth ordered the murders of several dozen innocent men.
Rand Paul just posted this letter from the Coast Guard confirming that 1/4 of the boats they stop carry no contraband. The likelihood that Hegseth & Bradley ordered the murder of innocent civilians is very high.

It is genuinely wild that a December special election reached midterm general election turnout.
Identical turnout to 2022, but a completely different universe

13% to the left of 2022/2024 despite midterm-level turnout

Even accounting for the new congressional maps, a swing like Aftyn Behn's (Trump+22 to D-8.6) would net Dems 259 seats in the midterms.

Even if the swing is *half* of tonight's, Dems win the House with 229 seats

Ily bluesky but I confess I do not understand many reactions to this TN special election

that I only heard about today

my read is that it's good that the enemy is spending resources eking out narrow victories in former shoo-in districts

as opposed to "we didn't win let's drink ourselves to death"

Arguably, the best argument isn't necessarily that she is a progressive or whatever, but more that she is white and a Black candidate who, say, went to Fisk would have probably boosted Black voter turnout. But that's not a question of ideology. #TN07
would a more D moderate candidate have gotten this wave of support in tennessee

or would a D candidate to the right of aftyn behn fail to inspire grassroots organizing on the ground

i have no clue and neither do the political journalists & pundits who will tell you what this result means

Woah. Newsmax’s legal analyst just said Pete Hegseth and everyone involved in the illegal boat strike should be “prosecuted for a war crime.”

They’ve even lost Newsmax on this one.

Note that a 14pt shift left in a red state is still catastrophic for the GOP: the only safe red states in such a wave (assuming even distribution) would be ID, OK, TN, KY, ND, AL, SD, WV, and WY.
looks like two completed counties (v red rurals) with Behn improving on Harris by 10 in one and 15 in the other -- huge shifts but not winning shifts

the Needle took a big dive to the right on the reporting of the Williamson County early vote, now R+5.7
