SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.

wrote 20 pages on Faulkner's The Bear four hours before final papers were due on trucker pills and coffee and cigarettes and got an A, fuck you.

Gary Sherman’s Dead and Buried (1981) is an absolutely perfect little horror movie. Sort’ve a sleepy Re-Animator in Murder She Wrote’s Cabot Cove, a sweet spot between Messiah of Evil and The Fog just oozing with rural seaside evil and mood to fucking spare. Small town apocalypse at its best!

Because Americans don't believe themselves to be followers. They SAY they're patriotic but they also don't like taking orders. A lot of them might hate all kinds of people but they hate their boss a little bit more. The GOP doesn't have a narrative that works when they're in power.

Maybe if they had a Leni Riefenstahl they'd have it sewn up, but they don't. The closest they have is Eastwood and even he doesn't seem to have a taste for their particular brand of conservatism. They've confused mass media (which you can bully and buy) with mass culture, and they're hitting a myth.

It's a sign of disrespect. They aren't the majority but they're trying to post their way into it and it...isn't working. The NFL, for all its faults, follows the money. Last year it was Kendrick, this year its Bad Bunny. They thought they'd rolled up media but the big money continues to be brown.

A food stall at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park used to sell a hot dog with pork BBQ on top — the "Carolina Q Dog." They wanted a good hot dog, & chose Hebrew National. When Hebrew National found out, they stopped selling to the vendor, so the vendor had to pick another hot dog.
