Both Cream and The Jam were going to reunite for gigs in Devon and Cornwall this year, but the venues couldn't agree about who should go on first.

I see the UK has now made the plot of Some Like It Hot illegal.

This (My Little Pony RPG) sounds weirdly good. And it's a lovely thread.

The MLP rpg is legot brilliant btw. I've run it for adults multiple times. They always go "wtf is this" at first then end up enjoying ot so much.

The whole concept of your 'save' tokens counting double if you spend them on SOMEONE ELSE shifts the whole table dynamic.

This is such a good point. I can't afford £100 for a covid booster. I could and would cheerfully pay £15 for one as I do flu. I also don't understand why so many aren't eligible for an NHS booster this year considering it didn't miraculously stop being covid over the summer
gabliotecaria.bsky.social
This makes me want to break things. If it's such a no-big (it actually is a big that fucking disabled me), and you're equating it to flu (again, not remotely like), then why aren't the prices comparable?

(They should be free but given that's not going to happen, well)

It’s dispiriting that this is what getting a COVID vaccination now looks like to this chronic asthmatic.

It won't matter and it isn't the point - transphobia is the point and that's all it is - but if we're going to define rape as gaining sexual consent by deception, that opens up an awful lot of totally normal situations to prosecution. Lots of people lie to get someone into bed.

I think letting children make books together gets them thinking in a lot of ways that inevitably lead to increased media literacy. Telling stories helps you to recognise stories elsewhere. Who is telling them? How are they being told? And why are they being told this way?

Could an AI journalist do THIS? Maybe. But would they? No. And this is why human ingenuity is vital. (Among other reasons).

New from me. I took a little bit of time out of my oppressively busy schedule to comb through what may be my favourite current show, Slow Horses, and carefully log and rank every single fart therein (I made a spreadsheet and everything). Hard-hitting journalism for @thedailybeast.bsky.social.
Every Gary Oldman Fart in ‘Slow Horses,’ Ranked
This week marks a very special episode of “Slow Horses”: the return of its famous flatulence. To celebrate, we ranked each one.

When you come at inclusion via the early years idea of creating an 'enabling environment' then what happens is that you adapt the setting to suit the children rather than trying to adapt the children to suit the setting.

To be fair, the government doesn’t talk nearly enough about the economic fallout from Farage’s pet project, Brexit - either what it’s already cost us or what’s still to come.

In both cases, the answer is pretty much the same: a bit shit.

This feels well overdue.

We have built a society in which people of different skin tones, religious backgrounds & cultures get along, share power, work alongside each other, procreate with each other, recognise the each other’s humanity and democratic rights. It is a STUNNING ACHIEVEMENT OF WORLD HISTORIC PROPORTIONS.

I know statistics are poorly understood and are misused. But facts matter

Between the 1991, 2001, 2011 and 2021 Census *every* ethnic group in the UK has become *less* geographically segregated and *all* groups, majority and minorities, are more likely to interact with people not like them

That's excellent! One of my daughter's friends told me today that she doesn't get bullied any more (which had been a massive problem) since "I told them all off!" She's small but fierce, so I'm glad it went well.

Private Eye offers up an excellently scornful commentary on the relentless polling. It’s become ridiculous and has oversimplified our politics to dangerous levels of stupid and irresponsible.
SHOCK POLL:
NIGEL FARAGE WILL BE PM TOMORROW
IN an amazing poll conducted
by The Pointless Polling Company, it was revealed that voters' intentions
may well change over the next three and a half years and at present it's 100 percent impossible to guess what the next government might look like.
However, 99 percent of journalists
agree that it would be much more fun if we had an election tomorrow and everybody resigned and everything was chaos and Farage had a go at being PM, just for the hell of it, because it was so much fun when
Brexit happened and then the government kept falling every five minutes and we could write endless pieces about (cont. p94)
