My usual library branch was closed for a couple of months, not long ago, and I went into the other branch, so used to libraries no longer being obsessed with quiet, to just pick up my holds, but I'm on the phone with my mom...
It is regrettably true that libraries stopped being the bastion of quiet contemplation and genteel silence a long, long time ago (if ever they were).

Honestly, this would be like if when Kennedy was president, the entire Republican opposition was a bunch of Herbert Hoover staffers and their hangers on.
