it is rational behavior once you realize that the marginal value of a billion and one dollars is actually zero relative to one billion dollars, whereas sexual access to one's subordinates is something they highly value
I also previously thought amoral but rational capitalists used rubes by cynically deploying vicious / silly right wing ideologies. But I now think I underestimated how many true believers there are, some of the previously rational got internet brain poison, and there's been change in who's in power.
i had sincerely thought that sexism was a dying prejudice because, in all honesty, up until 2025 i also sincerely believed on at least some level that powerful capitalists with rational but amoral priorities controlled everything and understood the value women bring to the workforce

I really do think they need to stop tolerating the parties that everyone knows are outright funded by Russia (which, coincidentally, overlaps 90% with these parties). Straight up - if you're receiving money from Moscow, you are straight up banned from election

I actually think running a sustained "grocery prices too high" campaign is smart and good politics but the way a lot of Dems are doing it - posting like "Trump promised to lower grocery prices but he let us down!" is specifically not effective

Our worthless class of elites is responsible for Trump, not because they agree with him but because their affectation of seriousness has suffocated them and made it impossible to leverage their resources and platforms to stop or slow him. They’d have to break the pose, and REACT, and they will not.

Watch who says it. Remember.

Even if the war doesn’t happen, make sure they take the betrayal to their graves.

tbh, i more or less don't care about how Europeans receive domestic messaging meant to prevent the moral and practical catastrophe of an invasion of Greenland. this is a failure because it fails to reach Americans, who are really the only meaningful audience for this sort of thing.
i feel like Americans don't get the level of eye-rolling this is getting from Europe

Just to back up Paul's point, a lot of Americans expressing shock at how Ukrainians are not fully sharing intel with the US because of concerns about leaks to Moscow seem to have missed how intel-sharing between US and Europe started breaking down months ago

US media just hasn't shown much interest
I also noted that I think there is reason to suspect that it is not just Dutch intelligence that has halted sharing.

before I go to bed, I feel obliged to emphasize how tonight’s rampage in northern Minneapolis was, by no exaggeration, a glorified episode of klan night riding by federally deputized groypers. Yes, DHS always had these people but the difference now is that they’re in charge and with a $175B budget.
