I was in two back to back committee meetings yesterday that made it hard for me to comment on this story.

We are taking this seriously. Public restrooms are commonsense. It’s a key strategy to bringing more people downtown and our cultural corridors. Along with the humanity aspect.
Really glad to see this; and especially glad that it's coming out of the Public Health & Safety Committee. It is a public health issue but it's also safety. Thank you CM @jchavezmpls.bsky.social and the rest of the committee! Please don't let it stay a report.
Minneapolis looking at bringing more public restrooms to downtown
City leaders in Minneapolis are discussing the need for more public bathrooms downtown, supported by new research highlighting the demand and potential costs.

Housing First approaches to homelessness, that prioritize getting a stable roof over people's heads before addressing trauma from the streets & other issues, prove to lead to long term stability. Rounding every homeless person up for forced mental health care which is incarceration is not the way!
I'm a mad person who's lived on the streets & knows a lot of mad people & I know that people like me are disproportionately inclined to homelessness & I don't like when that gets taken out of the conversation. But our reality is that late stage American capitalism can push anyone to the streets.

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

I lost my job, my kids have measles, and I was just detained by ICE for 10 days despite being a citizen carrying Real ID. But at least I know the Oberlin Student Senate won’t be doing land acknowledgements any more.

Someone put up shrines for murdered trans people at Powderhorn Park. I first saw them a week ago and now half of the photos are missing. One of the shrines was for Ra’Lasia Wright, who was murdered just outside of the park.
