I can't tell you how many times I had this conversation with people who really didn't want to hear the reality behind it because they wanted to be mad at the ethnic cop-lady they made up.
Welp, Susi didn't want to be educated on the process of school absenteeism, and once again decided to focus on I have a degree in poli sci, and missed the public ed part of my bio. I've posted the entire process before, and it's not just willy nilly parents get sent to jail, dumbass.

If a Democrat in a red district looks at running for office, realizes that they’re going to lose by 25 points or more, and do nothing they probably don’t run.

This is a big way a lot of the online left shoots itself in the foot. Obamacare genuinely moved the ball on universal coverage quite far & made it so the lift for full universality is much lighter.
it wouldn’t cost us all that much more to get to universal coverage because the population that is not covered is not especially expensive compared to the currently-covered population.

This. We're still recovering (or not) from Reagan. By the time we're past the damage this is doing (what can be recovered) millions will have died for no reason, both at home and abroad. From treatments denied, treatments delayed, treatments never finished.
I'm sorry for sounding like a broken record. Truly. It's just that it is going to take two generations, maybe more, to undo much of the utterly avoidable damage that the US administration is doing right now, and for hundreds of thousands of people killed by USAID cuts it is already far too late.
