Zuckerberg farted out some nonsense today, and since most media outlets refuse to report critically any time a tech CEO offers them some a pseudoserious press release, I've decided to do it for them.

How to Read an "AI" Press Release — Sonja Drimmer
Every so often someone like Mark Zuckerberg or Sam Altman will dribble out some unadorned text in Times New Roman font, announcing with stentorian certitude the advent of a new world that their latest...

What gets me about both the reporting and the judge's language is that even supposing "gender ideology" is some sort of religious belief, you would be more respectful of someone's religious belief than this. "..born Robert Prevost but now identifying as 'Pope Leo'".
They keep fucking editing the article, but it's not any better. And this addition about why the judge referred to her as "them" is like a parody of impartiality

As someone who has had a Motability car in the past (before failing my 7th driving test), you don't get any type of car - it is a scheme to use your benefits to lease an adapted car, and to get a BMW etc you would need to pay the significant difference
Let's be absolutely clear the restrictions on Motability cars is reflective of a quiet desire to see disabled people pushed out of public life because getting them in public space is sometimes a bit inconvenient and expensive

All the signs are in the same font, same spacing and on the same cardboard type. Totes a grassroots protest drawing on actual local concerns there then.
NEW: Protesters targeted a Scottish primary school on Monday as English classes were put on for mothers

Signs read 'protect our schools' and 'Glasgow City Council protect our kids'

Cis people, how many times have you been asked to describe how you masturbate, and what you think about when you do, to access healthcare on the NHS?

I hadn't quite appreciated that every senior researcher involved in the NHS puberty blocker trial has direct ties to SEGM, a designated hate group. We have an anti-Trans, USA hard right backed group pulling the strings behind the UK NHS puberty blocker trial. It is rotten to its core. Zero Trust.
The puberty blocker trial is about to start according to the BBC, led by Dr Emily Simonoff. The same Dr who spoke at a symposium organised by Segm, a group designated an anti trans hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Centre /1

I am by no means a prominent public intellectual, but my inbox is increasingly filled with messages from people who have been convinced by sycophantic chatbots that they have discovered revolutionary theories that entirely upend our scientific understanding of the universe.

Ava Cordero was one of the first victims of Jeffery Epstein to make public allegations against the child sex trafficking billionaire in 2007.

Ava was a transgender Latina woman. the New York media retaliated with transphobia: slandering, deadnaming, & shaming her for being assaulted as a child.

Oh we are absolutely in the worst timeline
It’s the exclusive everyone wanted, the story that will win next year’s Pulitzer…

I can reveal London’s giant AI generated Christmas artwork, the subject of much online mockery, is being torn down - and I honestly *genuinely* think you’ll never guess why. www.londoncentric.media/p/ai-artwork...

The bizarre story of why a much-talked-about creation is being torn down. Plus: Docklands Light Railway extension, giant laser stalks the night sky, and more tales of Android phone theft rejection.

Reminded of this by a post relating to another country: anyone over the age of 14 in Scotland can request a free naloxone kit if they are likely to need to help someone who has overdosed on opioids, via Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol & Drugs:

Oh wow! This is what happens when you're photographing MSS & don't capture the text in the inner gutter. 1st, here's the photograph (made about 100 yrs ago) of the Codex Salernitanus, f. 82ra. Although that big tear of the page is obvious, the inner gutter hasn't been fully captured in the photo.

MeToo did not go far enough. People were saying "MeToo has gone too far" when it had barely just picked up momentum.

It was an attempt at reckoning with how institutionally misogynistic and sexually exploitative most institutions are and what women are constantly put through. So it was crushed.
This idea that #metoo was a temporary piece of insanity that happened because America was too woke...

Fuck you. It was a temporary moment in time when people decided, for the first time, that 20 women were finally equal to one man.

There is no difference in practice between removing rights of individuals and leaving the ECHR. The end outcome is still the same, people lose rights. If human rights are an obstacle to your policy it is not the rights which are the issue, it is your policy. Labour going full Reform at this stage.

If women are underrepresented in STEM, it's at least partly because men like this offer mentoring, then embarrass themselves by assuming their mentees must be into them, then decide the best solution is to cut ties, which sends the signal to other faculty that the mentee must not be good enough.
The emails have Summers reporting to Epstein about his attempts to date a Harvard economics student & to hit on her during a seminar she was giving.

I came to this country as a child refugee. No English, no certainty, no idea what my life could become. Britain gave me refuge.

Not on a timer, not with conditions attached, but with a chance to grow roots.

Shabana Mahmood is expected to say the era of permanent protection for refugees is over, in major changes to the UK's asylum and immigration system.

Predictable but still amazing to watch people who spent literally years accusing every librarian, teacher, and trans person they could find of sexually grooming children suddenly throw themselves in with "actually it's ephebophilia"
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

In other words, you need a large NECESSARY bureaucracy. Healthcare is big and weird and complicated to deliver and you need people to support the people delivering the care. And if you "cut bureaucracy" and reinvest that money in the frontline then the frontline are *less supported*.
