My main opinion on Graham Platner is if there was a 41 year old guy running in the Republican primary for the Maine Senate seat and it turned out that he had a Nazi tattoo for 15 years and then he claimed that he just didn't know it was a Nazi tattoo, none of you would ever stop screaming about it.

A child dying of cancer spent her final days fighting to free her wrongfully detained father from ICE custody.

This comes just weeks after a mother from Maryland was denied the right to be at her son’s side as he died from cancer.

Not one dime for this cruelty.

A strange find from the Epstein files:

A hacker named Vincenzo Iozzo shares with Epstein a rumor that Peter Thiel was "bankrolling" the neo-Nazi white supremacist hacker troll known as "weev."

Conversation is about financial strategies and "currencies."

Disgusting.
A Virginia court agreed to allow a Marine and his wife to adopt an Afghan girl living in Afghanistan. Then the couple tricked the girl's family into evacuating to the U.S., and when they arrived here, stole the child. The Virginia Supreme Court just endorsed the legality of this.
Virginia Supreme Court rules US Marine's adoption of an Afghan war orphan will stand
The Virginia Supreme Court has ruled that a U.S. Marine and his wife will keep an Afghan orphan they brought home in defiance of the U.S. government’s decision to reunite her with her Afghan family.

Jack Dorsey *left* when instead of weird and off-putting cryptonerds, trans people started hanging out here.
Can you think of examples where people use technologies differently from what the developers intended, whether unintentionally or as an act of resistance?

On The Pitt, Dr Al-Hashimi is confronted with several massive errors from her genAI medical transcription program that delayed vital care for a patient, and dismisses them as nothing to worry abt as long as you double check. The perfect distillation of AI boosterism. AI is great even when it isn't.

Now we're in the vertical integration stage of the elite takeover, where the billionaires creating AI, killer military robots, and total panopticon surveillance are taking over both traditional and new media outlets.

WaPo, Twitter, TikTok, and now CBS (look who Weiss is bringing into CBS now).

There ends up being not much difference between "Democratic" billionaires and their overt right-wing counterparts.

Bill Gates, hopelessly compromised by his Epstein ties. Jeff Bezos, Sergey Brin, and Mark Zuckerberg were regular attendees of Brockman’s "Billionaires’ Dinners" along with Epstein.

There's a rot -- a eugenicist, transhumanist, techno-optimist, new-atheist rot -- in elite institutions that connects Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Silicon Valley, CBS, Palantir, and ICE.

It sweeps in Epstein, Bannon, Thiel, JD Vance, Stephen Miller, Joe Rogan, and all these other IDW / NeoRX creeps.

It's genuinely great that Maura Healey thinks Congress should take money away from ICE.

But I'm less interested in her opinion about things over which she has no control than in the things she actually could do right now to end state officials' collaboration with ICE.

If you've ever looked at, say, UK politics and wonder how they got themselves into such a weird, twisty, ineffective knot...

a key reason is that people are trying to do politics without the "woke" so as not to offend the fascist-curious amongst us.

The results are...not great, no.
Yeah, the Nazi tattoo is part of the appeal for Platner for a lot of people. His candidacy is supposed to signal the left no longer concerns itself with “woke” issues like public displays of bigotry.
Just gonna say there are plenty of insurgent, anti-establishment candidates WITHOUT Nazi tattoos that the New Republic could have featured instead of Platner.

You could ABSOLUTELY make the point that Ds are mad at the centrist leaders of the party WITHOUT helping rehabilitate this particular guy.

Between this and the story about the ice agents who ate at a Mexican restaurant and then arrested some of its workers when they were done, it's a reminder that these people reject even the most basic social agreements of hospitality and of helping others. They're sociopaths.
CCTV footage appears to show DHS agents posing as people having car trouble in order to lure a target out of his house before arresting them. The target comes out and starts helping them before 3 vehicles surround the scene. The car "experiencing" trouble then drives off with them.
