Hello Tara, good to hear from you. Regrettably, in light of executive abuse of proscription powers, & proposals regarding settled status, it’s difficult to say whether @teamlabouruk.bsky.social has come up with the ‘worst’ approach yet. Hoping you are correct.

All to remedy the totally disconnected cause - the closure/sale of 1 in 3 of our courts (sold at loss to Tories’ mates,m): 15% year on year cuts to criminal justice services; the trashing of Probation; evisceration of legal aid, etc. How do you fix that omnishambles - end a core legal principle?

Did you miss the ‘Clash of Civilisations’ panic from the first decade of this century? It proposed that ‘Western’ civilisation is inherently exceptional/superior & Islamic civilisation will corrode Western values if it’s given the opportunity.

Couldn’t be f*cked reading it!

Says someone who clearly never worked on a building site!

I’m worried that this might be a fake petition which is fishing for personal data to be harvested for criminal purposes by troll farms in Russia, or some bot farms. 😉

Property tax? Inheritance tax? Wealth flight due to Labourite Venezuelan socialism? Lazy workers? Productivity drop - (see previous for cause)? Triple lock? Greedy workers? Militant unions (see prev for cause)? NEETS? Malingerers cluttering up the NHS? Oh, I give up…just tell us the answer 🙏.

As co-convener of Vote Leave, Michael Gove occupied a position of legal responsibility. The unlawful spending & campaign coordination happened on his watch. The denials - proven to be false - ditto. Vote Leave, ultimately, accepted the finding & paid the fine.

There were no other consequences.

I’m a past winner of the Orwell Prize & won partly because I exposed Vote Leave’s unlawful activities.

Michael Gove was its co-convener & refused to answer a single q. He’s now a judge of the prize & our world is truly one that Orwell would recognise

Despite changing which party leads government last year, we still have policies across the board the punish people who are down for being down while people at the top complain that we should treat them even worse. The disabled, long term ill, caregivers, asylum seekers, refugees... Why target them?

So the Reith Lecture giver 2025 has had a line criticising Trump edited out of his first lecture (ironically on elite capitulation to autocrats)! 👇🏾👇🏼
I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

Bring it on!

One response is to make sure that countries implement the ICC warrant.

Nothing to laugh about in Clayton (or Moscow).

The situation these judges are being put in for doing their work is unbelievable. They can’t use any US services - and not just for work, in their private lives too.

Are there any actual journalists left?

‘Unsung’ for a perfectly good reason, perhaps? I mean, if you wanted your reputation boosted, you’d hope that praise would come from a credible source.

Is this an example of being ‘damned by faint praise’?

Plus, the longer article considers how many of these ‘strengths’ were fashioned out of the neoliberal model with their narrative of ‘meritocracy’. A reckoning is gathering momentum, for better or worse, by those excluded & ‘disrespected’ by late-capitalism.

Can’t disagree about the importance of #utopian politics - real, material changes based on collectively building better futures. But there’s also a visceral wave of rage which hasn’t yet been addressed, & I fear is being channeled by bad faith actors. It will be nasty before it gets better.
