I just want people who aren't terminally online to know that the Fallout community is currently ripping itself apart because the TV show fans are making fun of game fans for 'injecting their OCs into everything.' Every single mainline Fallout game forces you at gunpoint to make an OC.

As someone who doubted that Putin would invade until a week before he did because he simply did not allot enough troops to achieve a stable occupation, the core lesson from 2022 is that even if a course of action is strategically stupid doesn't mean that a solipsistically deluded leader won't do it
ok so maybe I was wrong when I said Putin would never invade. and maybe I was wrong when I said Putin will win in a week and we should not help. But now we’re here, and I'm going to tell you what putin is thinking, and I’m going to do it in the most patronizing way possible

"gender critical human rights organisation"? Surely that's a contradiction in terms
Also, this is I think the first time I've seen Maya / Sex Matters actively come out and say that they don't think transition should be allowed for adults either? It's always been 'well adults can do what they want, we are worried about the children' - not 'this is a failed model that doesn't work'.

Something like 90%+ of the fake AI stuff I am asked to comment on has been very clearly labelled as AI by the original uploader, then taken and spread 1000x as far by people presenting it as real. It’s a nightmare.
I’m increasingly uneasy about the flood of AI images on social media. They are mostly absurd and frustrating. They may sometimes be creative experiments, but the fact that so many users take them at face value says a lot about our collective loss of visual literacy.

I still haven't really processed that we've watched a social democratic party that was maybe a decade away from dominating every working age voter group in this country throw it all away in the space of 17 months

absolutely *incredible* update to the home office destroying jovi's naturalisation certificate, apologising, and telling us they'd send a replacement for free. it turned up in a "do not bend", hard backed envelope today...and it's for a romanian lady living in another city(!)

it turns out that capitalism only works up to the point where people start having enough money that "more money" ceases to be a meaningful incentive
i think what disgusts me the most is that businessmen valued harassing their female employees over their everything else, including their duty to shareholders
So cool how we just willfully induced a national malaise

Something I’ve commented on before is that, in addition to Nuremberg finding that the Nazis violated international law, they also found that they violated German law and the Weimar constitution (which had never been repealed).
Forget all this. The President has no fucking authority to declare war on anyone.

International law is great. It's important. But this shit is illegal as a matter of AMERICAN law
It is international law 101 that a military blockade is not just a violation of the UN Charter, but a crime of aggression.

Unless that blockade is in response to an 'armed attack.'

None of President's Trump's list of complaints come close to an armed attack.

I know this is a bold stance in America, but I simply do not believe we should be declaring war on another country for “stealing our oil” when the oil is, in fact, under the ground of that other country

I often think about the times when we organised hundreds of people at once on Teamspeak to attack star systems in Eve Online. Absolutely baffling activity, but i got great at it. Computer game fleet commander is one of my real life qualifications.
My obsession for a decade: Parts of games are real, not fiction.

Like, you are not really becoming a powerful knight when you gain a virtual level. That's fiction, fantasy.

But you DO gain real skills. In manipulating buttons, game tactics etc.

In multiplayer games, the friendships are real.
BTW, Spirit Crossing is coming to Steam. The goal is to create a major Cozy MMO with a huge population of folks making friends in a safe and welcoming space.

I deeply believe we can make the world a better place.

If this interests you, please wishlist!

Stein is spewing the corollary to Murc's law: Dems, and only Dems, must always be the adults in the room.

As for the Republicans: as Beyoncé once said, "You made your bed, now lay in it."
Absolutely not. Dems don't stop until Rs agree to end gerrymandering across the country. Ds didn't start this fight, but they damn well better win it.
