After her hearing at 26 Federal Plaza, a woman was detained and escorted toward the stairwell. Her husband, confused and in shock, was guided toward the exit. Minutes later, he broke down in the elevator. They entered together, but he left alone. This happens here daily. #ICE

The lionization of Charlie Kirk genuinely proves the point about centrists and leading media figures. The man dehumanized women, minorities, transgendered people, Muslims, etc was building bridges by debating others on these views that all these people are less than human. What a great guy.

I encourage anyone affiliated with the U of MN to contact President Cunningham- here is what I sent her
Dear President Cunningham –

A colleague shared with me that the university career services administration is sponsoring a webinar on border patrol recruitment tomorrow.

The university hosted webpage extols the service as protecting us from fentanyl and providing “humanitarian aid to those in need”. Not to mention, are the illegal renditions to other countries, the chance to ignore court orders, and the illegal racial profiling that the courts have found the border patrol engages in.

I am dumbfounded that university resources are promoting this agency at a time when many of the university’s students and staff see them as a threat to liberty and safety. The border patrol is remarkably well funded; let them do their own work to recruit, and do not use the funds or the name of our institution to steer students into this deeply troubled agency.

With profound disappointment

Trump admin planning to change student visas from lasting for duration of academic program to fixed 4-yr term, and then much harder to renew
Could destroy US ability to attract global talent, particularly those seeking advanced degrees in STEM. The median time to complete a PhD is 5.7 yrs per NSF.

Conservatives are going to use this as justification for further violence against us - trans women especially. They won't listen to us, but they might listen to you. At the very least, you have to try.

Will be hard to explain in the future that the US government went antivax, causing a lot of avoidable suffering and death, not in response to any negative incident with vaccines, but to the biggest, fastest, most successful, most impressive vaccine rollout in history.

If I have to explain to you why it's a bad idea to use a machine that makes shit up 15-80% of the time AND destroys the environment AND contributes to rising fascism and genocide AND puts brilliant skillful creatives out of work by stealing their work, then we're already speaking different languages

Many factors, in addition to moral cowardice and ideological agreement, explain why universities have capitulated. As teachers and students learn just how little control they have over campus, we need not just a defense of academic freedom but a more specific defense of the right to protest.
